Meet PipeMan

Welcome to the story behind the face you see on our trucks, shirts, and in the hearts of folks across Western North Carolina. PipeMan is more than just a mascot—he’s a symbol of comfort, pride, and community.

A Legend in the Window

PipeMan’s roots go back over 50 years to a handmade sculpture created from galvanized pipe. He stood proudly in the front window of our Sylva offices long before many of our current team members joined the company. When Ward Plumbing, Heating & Air was purchased in 2014, the previous owner requested two things: his truck and to take care of the original PipeMan.

We honored that request and immediately built a new PipeMan to keep the tradition alive in our front window on Mill Street. From there, his story began to evolve.

From Sculpture to Symbol

In 2015, PipeMan was added to our company logo. But in 2019, we gave him a full upgrade, adding a friendly face, a signature hat, and brand colors that matched our new identity. Though his bones are over half a century old, PipeMan has grown with us, just like the Ward PH&A family.

Many of our team members—and community members—remember seeing him in the window as kids. He’s become something of a local hero. And now? He’s here to stay.

What PipeMan Stands For

PipeMan is more than just pipes. He represents everything Ward PH&A stands for:

  • Reliability: Always there when you need him.
  • Expertise: A symbol of our commitment to quality plumbing, heating, air, and water treatment service.
  • Joy: With his ever-ready smile, he’s known to brighten days, especially for kids.
  • Legacy: A true hometown hero, representing the pride of Sylva and the surrounding WNC community.

When our vans pull into a driveway, customers often see PipeMan on the side before they see our technician, and that’s when they know help has arrived.

Community Hero

PipeMan has become a familiar face at local festivals, parades, home shows, and community events. We’ve even built a full-size PipeMan suit that comes out to shake hands, take photos, and bring smiles everywhere he goes.

Whether he’s standing tall in our lobby or rolling through town on a float, PipeMan is always proud to represent the heart of Ward PH&A.
